Trees for Survival is a programme for schools run by the TFS Charitable Trust. Originally established by the Pakuranga Rotary Club, the Trust promotes the growing and planting of native trees and shrubs to:
Our work with the Trees for Survival Trust came about after our involvement promoting the planting of one million trees in New Zealand in 2007, as part of the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) Billion Trees Campaign.
The client and consultancy set four goals for the public relations programme:
With a minimum budget to work within, a simple strategy was adopted with production of promotional material the primary focus. The consultancy undertook a website review, with updated material and a fresh look, and new pamphlets, stickers and signs were all designed and produced. Other promotion included articles in the Rotary Down Under magazine, a series of press releases, a viral marketing campaign, and the design and production (including voice-over) of a series of CDs, DVDs and powerpoint presentations for a primary and secondary schools resource kit.
We were also asked to assist with preparing a sponsorship presentation pack, which was then used to secure further sponsors for the Trust.
As a result of the programme, surveys show there is more public awareness of the programme, additional sponsorship was attracted, more schools are becoming involved in the planting programme, website hits have increased and a new resource kit was completed and dispatched to 150 primary and secondary schools.
